How Therapy Can Help

Therapy is a safe, supportive space where we gently untangle the layers of what you’re carrying—kind of like working through a tangled necklace together. We’ll explore how your past shows up in your present, notice patterns, and help you reconnect with your body and inner world.

What Can I Expect Working With Sara?

Strengths Based, Person Centered

This is a culturally humble, LGBTQ+ affirming, fat-positive, pro-reproductive freedom space that honors all identities and beliefs. All parts of you are seen, heard, and supported. My approach is strength-based and never pathologizes your experience. We focus on the messiness of being human—not just diagnoses. Therapy is a team effort: you’re the expert in your life, and I’m here to support you in noticing what’s already working, trying new ways forward, and celebrating progress along the way.

Expertise in Complex Trauma

Complex trauma refers to repeated or prolonged experiences of trauma—often starting in childhood—that affect many parts of your life. It can make life feel overwhelming, confusing, or messy. It often shows up as emotional highs and lows, relationship struggles, or memory gaps—and sometimes it’s hard to even find the words. With years of experience, I’ve learned how to safely navigate these layers and help people make sense of their experiences without judgment. You’ll have a compassionate guide who truly understands the depth and complexity of your journey—and who can help you find your footing again.

Evidence Based Treatment

I use therapies backed by research and proven to help healing—most often EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing, which is informed by Polyvagal Theory and especially effective for trauma. I also draw on other evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, DBT, Compassion-Focused Therapy when they fit your needs. If all these options feel overwhelming or you’re unsure where to begin, don’t worry—I’m here to guide you. Together, we’ll find what works best for you, moving at your pace with support every step of the way.

Ease and Accessibility

Therapy should be easy to access—not another source of stress. I offer evening and weekend appointments, both in-person and online, to fit your busy life. I’m in-network with most insurance providers and provide superbills for out-of-network coverage. While I don’t currently offer sliding-scale fees, I’m happy to connect you with trusted therapists who do. My goal is simple: to make starting and continuing therapy as smooth and comfortable as possible, wherever you are in North Carolina.

What Sets Sara Apart?

Experience with Complex Cases

The people I work with often carry stories that feel tangled, overwhelming, or even unspeakable. Whether it’s dissociation, memory gaps, self-injury, or trauma that feels too big to name, I understand the depth and complexity of these experiences—and I know how to guide you through them with compassion and clarity.
