EMDR Therapy in Raleigh, NC | Sara Forcella
Hey, I'm Sara (she/her)
I’m an EMDRIA-certified therapist and EMDR Consultant-in-Training based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with over a decade of experience helping adults navigate trauma. I specialize in EMDR therapy for CPTSD, relational trauma, and survivors of IPV. I combine trauma-informed care with relational understanding to help people rebuild self-trust, gain clarity, and create lasting change. I also mentor clinicians in attachment-focused EMDR, sharing practical tools to support their clients’ healing.
I work with adults in Raleigh and surrounding communities, including Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, and Charlotte, as well as clients across North Carolina via secure telehealth sessions.

I’m a Northern transplant, born and raised in Connecticut. My toxic trait? Getting distracted by clients’ pets mid-session! I was a first-generation college student and a student-athlete (softball pitcher). And yes, I liked the color pink and Taylor Swift before they were cool.
I’m a huge animal lover—I rescue Betta fish, foster dogs, and spoil my three rescue beagles. When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me lifting weights, binge-listening to pop culture podcasts, watching Bravo, or gardening. Oh, and of course, you can catch me in my own therapist’s office too!

How I Work
I believe attachment and relational trauma heal in relationship. In sessions, you’ll be met with compassion, clarity, and intention. I integrate EMDR therapy with trauma-informed, strengths-based care, and I sometimes incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques to help adults navigate complex parts and inner conflicts. Together, we work to rebuild self-trust, deepen insight, and strengthen your relationships — all while honoring the wisdom you already carry.
I guide the process with skill and experience, while you remain the expert of your own story. This includes providing education, explaining diagnoses, discussing treatment options, and collaborating on your personalized plan. I work from an intersectional, feminist lens, attending to how power, identity, and social structures shape your story.
Who I Work With
Many of the adults I work with:
-
Grew up with emotionally immature, inconsistent, or unavailable caregivers
-
Struggle with people-pleasing, boundaries, or chronic self-doubt
-
Notice relationship patterns that feel difficult to change
-
Carry lingering shame, guilt, or a harsh inner critic
-
Are processing overwhelming or traumatic experiences

Our Values
Authenticity – You don’t have to perform here.

The Fun Stuff
I’m a Northern transplant, born and raised in Connecticut. My toxic trait? Getting distracted by clients’ pets mid-session. I was a first-generation college student and a former student-athlete (softball pitcher). And yes — I loved Taylor Swift and the color pink before they were cool.
I’m a huge animal lover. I rescue Betta fish, foster dogs, and spoil my three rescue beagles. When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me lifting weights, binge-listening to pop culture podcasts, or in my garden. And of course, I’m also in my own therapist’s office, because I believe in practicing what I teach.
