EMDR Therapy May Be Helpful If...

You understand your struggles intellectually but still feel emotionally impacted by them.

Anxiety, shame, fear, or self-doubt keep showing up despite your best efforts.

Painful experiences from the past continue to influence your relationships, sense of self, or ability to feel safe.

Talk therapy has helped you gain insight, but you're looking for a different way to engage with the healing process.

You feel stuck carrying experiences that no longer reflect who you are today.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process distressing experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming in the present.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to tell your story repeatedly. Instead, we use bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or tones—to help the brain process experiences that may feel stuck.

Many people describe EMDR as helping them gain perspective, reduce emotional intensity, and feel less impacted by memories that once felt overwhelming.

The goal is not to erase the past. The goal is to help the past feel less disruptive to your present.

Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR Therapy

How does EMDR work?

The honest answer is that we don't know exactly how EMDR works. Several theories have been proposed, including working memory taxation, memory reconsolidation, and similarities to processes that occur during REM sleep. While researchers continue to study the mechanisms involved, what we do know is that EMDR can help the brain process experiences that feel stuck so they become less distressing over time.

Healing is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.

If you're ready to heal from the past and create a life that feels more connected and aligned, I invite you to schedule a consultation.
