About the Course
10-Week Therapy Group for Daughters of Emotionally Immature Parents
If you grew up with an emotionally immature parent, you are not alone. This 10-week closed virtual group provides a safe, trauma-informed space to explore and disentangle from these complex relationships. Inspired by the work of Dr. Lindsay Gibson (Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, Recover from Emotionally Immature Parents) and led by Sara Forcella, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified EMDR Therapist, trained by Dr. Gibson, this group will help you:
Understand emotional immaturity and its impact on your behaviors and emotions
Learn strategies to set healthy boundaries
Practice emotional regulation and self-compassion
Reconnect with your authentic self
Connect with others who understand your experiences
Is This Group for Me?
Do you find it hard to connect with your parent on a deeper emotional level? Do interactions leave you exhausted? Do you feel like you’re doing all the emotional work, or being treated as an extension of your parent? Are your boundaries often ignored? These experiences are common among adult children of emotionally immature parents. You might also notice patterns such as feeling responsible for your parent’s emotions, difficulty trusting others or forming intimate relationships, or seeking strategies to protect your emotional energy and reconnect with your authentic self.
Participants must (anyone who identifies as a daughter):
Be 21 years or older
Live in North Carolina or Connecticut
Agree to attend at least 9 of the 10 group meetings
Our group is committed to being trauma-informed, culturally humble, and LGBTQ+ affirming. We strive to create an inclusive, supportive space, and we ask all participants to treat one another with respect.

What Is Group Therapy?
Led by a trained mental health professional, group therapy allows participants to share experiences, receive professional guidance, and practice new skills. Unlike a support group, it is structured, educational, and therapeutic, while also providing peer validation and connection.
What Participants Say:
