About the Course

Calling all anxious girlies ages 21+! Beginning Spring 2026, this bi-weekly 75-minute group combines bibliotherapy and practical skill-building to support young women navigating anxiety, self-doubt, and low confidence. Each session is centered around a carefully selected book — our next read is Are You Mad at Me? by Meg Josephson — and explores themes relevant to managing emotions, understanding self, and building resilience.

Participants will engage in group discussions, reflection, and exercises, and at the end of each session, they’ll be introduced to a specific tool or skill for managing anxiety. This group is not a substitute for psychotherapy and does not establish a therapeutic relationship. Participants are encouraged to already be engaged in individual therapy.

Is this group for me?

  • Are you a woman between 20–40?

  • Do you want to create social connections but feel held back by anxiety?

  • Do you struggle with negative self-talk or low self-confidence?

  • Do you enjoy reading or listening to audiobooks?

  • Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone to try something new?

Participants must be 21+ and live in North Carolina, and agree to attend at least 7 of the 8 sessions. The group is trauma-informed, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, fat-positive, and pro-reproductive freedom, and all members are expected to participate respectfully.

Past Participants Share:

  • “Finding constructive community with women who have similar experiences.”

  • “This group was the perfect way to both learn new skills and practice them in real time. It was a great way to connect with others who have similar struggles. Sara did a great job, and I look forward to any future groups for anxiety!”

  • “Connecting with like-minded women struggling with similar issues was empowering and a reminder that I am not alone. Using the book as a guide for conversation made interacting less intimidating and the discussions meaningful.”
